Two suspects to appear in court over rapper AKA's murder
Two suspects of the seven suspects arrested in connection to South African rapper Kienern Forbes, popularly know as AKA will be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
AKA was killed together his friend Tebello "Tibz" Motsoane.
The two suspects were arrested in Eswatini where they had moved in, in November 2023.
Last week, five suspects appeared at the Durban Magistrates Court. Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, the KwaZulu-Natal provincial police commissioner, said last week that it was clear that AKA was monitored from the airport and Tibz was not the intended target in the murder on Florida Road in Durban.
Adding, "We know they were paid for this."
The rapper and his friend were killed at gunpoint in February 2024.
Speaking to the media, the singer's father Tony Forbes said he didn't think the true mastermind had been caught.
"I think the provisional commissioner was referring to the co-coordinator. He received a sum of money and shared it with six of his people. Where did that money come from?"
"Is this the true mastermind? My gut feeling says no."
On how he felt after seeing the suspects for the first time in court, he said 'Just coming here today (in court) was disturbing; seeing who these people are. It was the first time I had sighted them, I couldn't really sight them, they were hiding behind the mask. I came here to see who did this to Kiernen and to Tibz and I can't see who they are."
