Tumi Morake headlines women’s only comedy special “Girls Aloud” in Kenya
South African comedy sensation Tumi Morake is set to grace the stage in Kenya at a Women’s Only Comedy Special, titled “Girls Aloud,” hosted by Punchline Comedy Club and Gilbeys Gin in celebration of International Women’s Month.
The eagerly anticipated event will kick off with a Gala night on the 9th of March at the prestigious Lewis Leaky Auditorium, followed by a Matinee at The Two Grapes Bar and Restaurant on the 10th.
Tumi Morake, celebrated for her multifaceted talents as a comedian, actress, TV personality, and writer, will headline the show alongside an exceptional lineup of female comics.
Joining her on stage will be the sensational Tanzanian comic, Neyla Manga, known for her distinctive blend of humor and wit that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Also sharing the spotlight is Kenya’s own Ciru Mwangi, voted Breakout Comedian of 2023, renowned for her relatable style that has endeared her to audiences across the country.
Adding to the laughter will be Shazz Nderitu, affectionately known as Mama Ngina, and Gaya Marina Garbaruk, originally from South Africa.

The collaboration between Gilbeys and Punchline Comedy Club has been fruitful, with successful weekly comedy nights and two ticketed specials already hosted in Nairobi since the beginning of the year.

Tumi Morake, a trailblazer in African comedy, has made history with her groundbreaking achievements, including being the first African woman to feature in her own Netflix special in 2018.
She also holds the distinction of being the inaugural female host of Comedy Central Presents in Africa.
