Top Kenyan DJ arrested for allegedly beating senior police officer to death
A prominent Kenyan DJ is among seven suspects arrested in connection with the death of a senior DCI officer.
The suspects who are being held at Kabete police station allegedly attacked and injured inspector Felix Kelian Kentos.
Three officers stationed at the Kikuyu Police Station were on Saturday evening arrested in connection with the incident.
The three; Khadija Abdi Wako, Sammy Rotich Cherono, and Agnes Kerubo Mugo, are currently being held as suspects of murder of the senior cop.
Police said some of the DJ’s handlers who assaulted Inspector Felix Kelian Kentos on March 16, 2024, are also in custody.
Police said the DJ was picked up on Friday alongside his bouncer, driver and photographer after they allegedly attacked and seriously assaulted Kelian in a road rage.
Boda boda riders who were present during the incident are also being sought, police said.
The assault happened after the officer was involved in a non-injury traffic accident at around 4am within Kikuyu market.
Kelian did not identify himself as an officer during the rage.
Traffic police attended the scene minutes later.
The officer died on Friday while receiving treatment at the Nairobi West Hospital.
He had been admitted and was undergoing treatment for abdominal pain and other injuries sustained after the alleged beating.
The body was moved to the Umash Funeral Home as investigations on the matter continue.
News of the officer's death shocked many of his colleagues some of who visited the funeral home on Saturday.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the matter.
