Taita Taveta: 11 KU Students Confirmed Dead in Road Accident at Maungu
A wave of anguish and sorrow has swept through the Kenyatta University community following a tragic accident involving several students on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway. 11 KU students have died in a road accident along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway. How did KU students die in the accident? The incident occurred on Monday evening, March 18, in the Maungu area in Voi when a trailer hit their bus on the left side. Preliminary reports indicated that the school bus was carrying public health students heading to Mombasa for an academic trip. Several passengers from the bus accident were quickly rushed to Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment. How many KU students have been confirmed dead? At the time of reporting, at least 11 learners had been confirmed dead. 10 of them died on the spot, while one of them was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the hospital. Other sources also indicated that four students escaped unhurt and were transported to Voi Police Station for processing. The bus was ferrying a total of 58 passengers including a security officer. The tragic accident happened two days after Kapsabet Boys High School students were involved in another fatal accident at Patkawanin in Baringo county. The Form Two students were on a Geography academic trip when the Saturday, March 16, accident took place. According to reports, the bus's brakes had failed despite the driver's several attempts to control it. As a result, the school lost one of their teachers and a student as several others sustained severe injuries.
