Pastor Ezekiel Recalls He, Wife Sarah Selling Omena, Vegetables Before Fame: "Nilianza Na KSh 500

Pastor Ezekiel has revealed he was a hawker before he became famous. Pastor Ezekiel and his wife, Sarah Wanzu, are blessed with three adorable children. What jobs did Ezekiel do before fame? Speaking on Sunday, March 3, at his New Life Church in Mavueni, Kilifi, while addressing a woman who asked him for money, Ezekiel said he and his wife, Pastor Sarah, did menial jobs before. The televangelist, who has always admitted his marriage isn't perfect, narrated how his wife hawked snacks at construction sites, revealing he stopped her from doing the work after a man approached him. "Pastor Sarah ameuza Mahindi boiled na njugu kwa mjengo. Mwanaume akamwambia, 'wewe, hauna mume wa kukupenda. Ni mwanaume mgani amekuwacha unauza mahindi? Njoo nikuoe nitakuonyesha upendo na nitakupa pesa'. Siku hiyo ndio aliacha kuuza. Hata mimi nilimwambia, usiuze tena ili usichukuliwe (Pastor Sarah sold boiled corn and peanuts at construction sites. A man told her, 'You, you don't have a husband who loves you. Which man has left you to sell corn? Come, let me marry you, I will show you love and give you money.' That day she stopped selling. I also told her not to sell anymore so she wouldn't be taken advantage of)," Ezekiel narrated. He added: "Pastor Sarah ameuza omena hapa Kongowea. Mimi pia nimeuza Kongowea kwa kibanda. Nilianzisha na mia tano. Siku ya mwisho miliuza KSh 16. Mke wangu pia aliuza KSh 16 akaenda kulala (Pastor Sarah has sold omena in Kongowea. I also had a stall in Kongowea. I started with KSh 500. On the last day, I sold for KSh 16. My wife also sold for KSh 16 and went to sleep)." The man of God said the following day when they woke up, his wife asked him to get new stock to sell, but he had no money after failing to clear the previous day's stock. Using his grass-to-grace story, the man of God told his congregants not to be quick to ask for money but to know how to get money. "Nikikuambia uende ufanye kazi sikuchukii. Nakupa ile njia niliyofuata nikimtegemea Yesu (When I tell you to go and work, I don't hate you. I'm giving you the path I followed relying on Jesus)," he said.," he said. Love vs financial struggles Previously, the New Life Church founder shared a touching account of how he faced immense challenges when seeking his wife Sarah's hand in marriage. Recalling the pivotal moment when he went to pay Sarah's bride price before their wedding, Pastor Ezekiel recounted the unexpected opposition from his in-laws.  They questioned why their daughter had chosen a man of humble means when her family was also experiencing financial difficulties. Their concerns led to a demand for Pastor Ezekiel to prove his ability to care for Sarah by paying for her relatives' fare to attend the wedding. With limited financial resources, the man of God faced a difficult choice. Having offered two goats as part of the bride price, he only had KSh 4,000, yet he had a wedding to fund. Ezekiel explained his predicament to Sarah, expressing his love but hesitating to take her hand due to her parent's objections.
