Newborn Omote: Family, Friends Mourn Young Pilot Who Died after 2 Planes Collided Mid-Air in Nairobi
A Nairbi family has been thrown into mourning after their son, Newborn Omote, lost his life in an airborne accident between a Safarilink plane and a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety Nines Flying School. The Safarilink plane was en route to Mombasa when it got involved in a head-on collision with a Ninety Nines Flying School from Wilson Airport; Omote, and another passenger were the only fatalities. As soon as people heard of Omote's death, there was an outpouring of tears and grieving messages on social media platforms. "Sad evening! A young promising, brilliant mind pilot, Newborn Omote was involved in a plane crash this evening and died on the spot. Omote's uncle says death has hit them hard Omote's uncle, Robert Kibagendi Ondieki, also took to his Facebook page to mourn to mourn his nephew. A family member identified as Anita Kerubo also took to her Facebook page to mourn the promising pilot in a heartfelt message. The company disclosed that no casualties were reported among the 39 passengers and five crew members on board.
