How SACCOs are transforming Kenyans' lives The cooperative societies announced dividends and interest payouts for the financial year ending December 2023. Presiding over the Mwalimu National Sacco Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM) on Saturday, March 2, Cooperative and MSME CS Simon Chelugui applauded the movement for transforming Kenya's financial sector. "Mwalimu National Sacco Society Ltd occupies a very special position in serving the financial sector nationally," said Chelugui. Mwalimu National is among the SACCOs that paid high interest and dividends to members during the period under review. Below is a list of Sacco with high dividends and a minimum monthly contribution of KSh 1,000. 1. Stima Sacco Stima Sacco is yet to declare dividends for the financial year ending December 2023. However, in the previous year, the society paid dividends on share capital at a rate of 15% and interest on deposits at 11%. The Sacco draws its membership from employees in the energy sector and other sections of the economy. Its minimum monthly contribution is KSh 1,000, and boasts an asset base of KSh 53.8 billion. 2. Hazina Sacco Hazina Sacco paid dividends on shares and interest on member deposits at 17% and 10.8%, respectively, for the year ending December 31, 2023. Hazina Sacco's assets stand at KSh 12.7 billion and draw members from both the public and private sectors. The Sacco minimum monthly contribution stands at KSh 1,000 (or 5% of salary). 3. Tower Sacco Tower Sacco was among the cooperative societies that paid dividends and interests to members early in January 2024. The Sacco has an asset base of KSh 19.7 billion and draws members from all sectors of the economy who pay KSh 500 minimum monthly contributions During the period under review, the Sacco paid dividends on shares at 20% and interest on deposits at 13%. 4. Imarisha Sacco Nation Sacco targets members from all sectors of the economy, paying a minimum monthly contribution of KSh 1,600. The Sacco boasts KSh 19.8 billion in assets with a reach of 13 branches across the country. In the 2023 financial year, it approved a dividend payout of 14% and interest on deposits of 11% 5. Mwalimu National Mwalimu National Sacco targets public education sector employees and has an asset base of KSh 64 billion. The Sacco minimum monthly contribution is KSh 1,000. During the year under review, the Sacco paid a 10.5% dividend on shares and 10% interest on member deposits.
