Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen issued a raft of measures he believes would restore sanity on Kenyan roads. In a press release on Tuesday, March 19, Murkomen has ordered a previously-shelved driver re-testing programme. The programme that involves Public Service Vehicle(PSV) and commercial truck drivers undergoing fresh tests was postponed in 2023 due to an uproar from stakeholders in the matatu sector. The CS further approved the establishment of the Kenya Transport Accident Investigation Bureau, which will be an independent and autonomous agency for the investigation of road, rail and water transport. Murkomen further revealed that the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) would son make their way back to the Kenyan roads.
