Four critically injured KU students airlifted to Mombasa
Some four critically injured Kenyatta University students were on Tuesday airlifted to Agha Khan Hospital in Mombasa.
They're among 42 students who were injured after their bus collided with a trailer at Pipeline near Maungu along the Mombasa Nairobi highway.
The Monday evening accident killed 11 other students.
The university Vice Chancellor Paul Wainanina in a statement earlier on Tuesday said some of the critically injured students will be evacuated to Nairobi after an assessment on their status.
This is after the university dispatched a team from the Main Campus and Mombasa Campus to the accident scene on Monday night.
The team which comprises two doctors, medical personnel, university security officers as well as students and staff wellness officers is expected to assess the situation, assist survivors and provide an accurate report on the incident.
"At the moment we are not able to share specific numbers and or names but can confirm that there were several fatalities involved," Wainanina said.
"The university will provide a more comprehensive report later today a information becomes available," he added.
