Emotional Moment as Jowie's Mother Watches Police Uncuff Him ahead of Sentencing

Friday, March 8, was the day Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, was set to know his sentence after being convicted of the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani. Prison officers uncuff Jowie as his mother looks on. Monica Kimani's murder Kimani was found in a bathtub at her apartment in Lamuria Gardens on September 19, 2018, leading to the arrest of Jowie and his ex-lover and journalist Jacque Maribe. On Friday, February 9, High Court Judge Grace Nzioka delivered a judgment that convicted Jowie and acquitted Maribe. R Justice Nzioka said that the prosecution had proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Jowie murdered Kimani after listening to both prosecution witnesses and the defence. She indicated that the prosecution had successfully placed the accused at the scene of the crime, and other forensic analysis reports, like DNA tests, had undoubtedly linked Jowie to Kimani's unfortunate death. Jowie shows up in court smartly dressed Jowie, who was presented in court, could be seen sinking into grief after the judgment convicting him was finally delivered. Even as everything looked to fall apart, Jowie's family members stood by their loved one in his stormy season. His sister could be seen weeping uncontrollably after finding out that her brother would be going to jail. Justice Nzioka ordered that Jowie's bail be cancelled, meaning he would remain in custody until Friday, March 8, when his sentence would be read. Jowie's mother's loving gesture to son During the sentencing day, Jowie looked calm. The sentencing was pushed to Wednesday, March 13, 2024. His mother, who accompanied him to court, showed how much she loved her son at a time when he needed her more. An emotional photo showed Jowie's mother lovingly looking at her son and speaking to her as police officers who had brought him to court uncuffed her. The photo painted a perfect picture of the strength of a woman and the pure and near-unconditional love of mothers.
