Diamond Platnumz’s rate card increases ahead of global tour
Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz’s manager, Sallam SK, has revealed the amount the artist commands for each performance.
Speaking on the ‘Jana na Leo’ show on Wasafi FM, SK disclosed that Diamond’s performance fees are set to skyrocket starting from May this year, as the artist gears up for a series of shows.
Revealing the staggering figure, SK explained, “Diamond’s show payment is well known. It depends, but it is not less than a hundred thousand dollars (KSh14.3 million).”
SK, who also doubles as the owner of a radio station, justified the substantial fee, underscoring the extensive team and resources involved in Diamond’s stage productions.
“Taking a small amount is impossible because you know when it comes to costs, you have climbed onto the stage with 20-30 people, and then you say you are doing a show for 10 million, what are you paying the others?” he questioned.
Highlighting the investment required to ensure a high-quality performance, SK elaborated:
“If you are building a high-quality stage for 200 million shillings, why should an artist who is going to climb the stage not be paid 200 million as well? So it’s not just about the entrance fee at the door, there is more need there that when a person climbs onto that stage, he is a brand.”
In addition to the performance fees, event organizers face additional expenses in facilitating Diamond’s appearances.
SK revealed that special travel arrangements, including private jet bookings, food, and accommodation for Diamond and his entourage, are standard requirements for international shows.
Previously, in 2021, Sallam SK disclosed that Diamond charges Sh7 million for international performances.
Sallam also explained tactics he and Diamond used to promote their music internationally.
“We would visit clubs abroad and provide a set fee to the DJ to play our music or purchase drinks equivalent to that amount to request a song.”
Zuchu, WCB-Wasafi’s most popular female artiste, charges Sh4 million for international shows.
“The world has changed right now, and as the demand for her services goes up, so are the charges. That is why we have been marketing her widely. Right now she charges Sh4 million for shows outside Tanzania.”
