Busia Girl Who Disappeared in 2023 Found at KNH Morgue, Bill Stands at Over KSh 250k
The body of 26 -26-year-old Violet Olinga has been lying at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) morgue since 2023, and the family cannot secure it for burial. Busia Girl Who Disappeared in 2023 Found at KNH Morgue, Bill Stands at Over KSh 250k Violet comes from Kengatuny village in Okilidu sub-location, Ochude location in Teso South Sub-county, Busia County. Her father, Michael Obwaku, told TUKO.co.ke that his daughter left home for Nairobi in 2022 to look for a job. She secured one, but in June of the same year, she disappeared off air, and efforts to trace her were unsuccessful. “Her landlord in Githurai 44 looked for the family and told us Violet left her door open and supper uneaten before going missing,” he said. Their frantic search came to a sad ending when someone posted online that there was an unclaimed girl in the mortuary. When the family followed up, they learned that Violet checked herself into the facility on August 8, delivered through CS a day later, and died the following day. She left behind the baby boy she delivered named Favor Imosi, but the hospital couldn’t trace the family and took care of the newborn. “We recently managed to get the baby, but now our mortuary bill stands at KSh 168,000, and we are unable to raise it,” the grieving father said. Apart from the morgue bill, there's a pending ward charge of KSh 73,000 and other costs like KSh 85,000 for transporting the body to Busia 85k, baby care, and the burial at KSh 300,000. Michael says they initially planned to bury her last Saturday, March 10, but the pending bill made it impossible.
