Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni’s son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, seems to have a special place for Kenya in his heart. Yoweri Museveni’s Son Muhoozi Kainerugaba and former Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta when the former Ugandan Land Forces Commander visited Kenya.  Muhoozi’s attacks on Kenya Regularly, Muhoozi, referred to by netizens as the tweeting general, has mentioned Kenya both adversely and in a positive light as he weighs into the East Africa region’s geopolitics. At one point, Muhoozi awakened rage from Kenyans when he tweeted that it would only take him two weeks to take over Nairobi.  . The Twitter slur insinuating that Kenya could not survive without Uganda and even proposing to rename parts of Nairobi using Ugandan names saw Kenyans online fiercely confront him. Yoweri Museveni apologises for son’s undiplomatic tweets Around that time, his father came out boldly, apologising for his military son’s undiplomatic statements. “I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for tweets sent by General Muhoozi, former Commander of Land Forces here, regarding the election matters in that great country. It is not correct for Public officers, be they civilian or military, to comment or interfere in any way, in the internal affairs of brother countries. “The only available legitimate forum is the Peer Review Mechanism of the African Union or confidential interactions among us or EAC and AU fora-not public comments,” Museveni’s statement read. Besides the on-and-off tiffs he ignites between Kenya and Uganda, Muhoozi openly expressed his admiration for former president Uhuru Kenyatta, even describing him as the best president in the world. Muhoozi’s admiration for Uhuru Kenyatta At one point, Muhoozi said he admired Uhuru, save for the part that he was unwilling to contest for the presidency for the third term. The Constitution of Kenya allows a president to serve for two terms only. On Tuesday, March 21, Muhoozi resurfaced with another message about Uhuru, who finished his term and has been, among other responsibilities in Africa, overseeing peace talks to broker a truce in the Democratic Republic of Congo and observing elections like the recently concluded Nigerian polls. Insinuating that East Africa was moving towards a single state with one head of state and military commander, Muhoozi said such a union was urgent so that Uhuru did not remain “jobless.”.  “Do not worry about Kenya. The Commander-in-Chief of the region, H.E. @KagutaMuseveni is working tirelessly to bring us all on board. There is a lot of anger for sure. How can my big brother Uhuru just be there without a job? If we had Union he would be chilling in Kampala now,” Muhoozi said. Some netizens perceived the tweet as a litmus test for EAC regional politics. He later deleted the tweet, though it was captured in screenshots. Update: President Yoweri Museveni appointed Muhoozi as the Chief of Defence Forces of Uganda on Thursday, March 21. Muhoozi was missing from active military command for two years after making statements that were deemed a threat to diplomatic ties between Kenya and Uganda.
