Murder suspect Kang’ethe to appear for mention on getting new attorneys

News

Murder suspect Kevin Kang’ethe will be back in court today to know if he will have managed to hire a new advocate or not.

On Tuesday, Kang’ethe was granted access to his phone to necessitate the hiring of new lawyers after he dropped his.

He claimed that they were provided for by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and did not honour the privacy accorded in an attorney-client relationship.

“I do not wish to proceed with the previous attorneys. I was not afforded the right to hire my own. They were provided by the DCI,” he told the court.

He also complained that they did not represent him to his satisfaction compelling the court to grant him the time to acquire a new one.

The man suspected of killing his girlfriend in the US before fleeing to Kenya will appear before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina.

If he gets a new lawyer, the extradition proceedings are likely to continue in his next appearance in court.
