William Ruto Stranded as 2 Power Blackouts Disrupt His Speech: "Are We There?"
In recent months, Kenya Power has been blamed for unreliable electricity, characterised by frequent blackouts. During the closure of the National Executive Retreat in Naivasha on Wednesday, February 21, the president suffered an embarrassment. Ruto was addressing members of his Cabinet on why he settled on them when the lights went out for at least five seconds. The head of state tried talking through the address system for some time before the lights came back on. "Are we there...Oh, okay," Ruto said while testing out the microphone. As he was closing on his speech, another blackout was witnessed with the microphones continuing to work.
