Reason Nabayet refused to marry Otile Brown
Renowned Kenyan musician Jacob Obunga, popularly known as Otile Brown, has admitted that the song 'Dear X' on his new album was written for his former lover Nabayet, also known as Nabbi.
Speaking through his Instagram page on Friday evening, the Coastal-born singer revealed that it took great courage to create the song, which addresses the challenges of their broken relationship.
He went on to talk about how much he loved the beautiful lady from Ethiopia and how determined he was to officially marry her.
"I loved the Ethiopian lady so much, and I really wanted to marry her. But unfortunately, due to my past mistakes, she rejected me several times," said Otile Brown.
He confessed that after hurting Nabayet and causing her to leave Kenya, he made efforts to go to Ethiopia and try to persuade her to come back, but his efforts were in vain.
"But even I didn't fight for her too much because I felt she had changed, she wasn't the Ethiopian I knew. The heartbreak and long-distance discouraged her. I had to take the loss and let go," he said.
The immensely talented singer stated that parting ways with Nabayet affected him so much that he found it challenging to enter into new relationships.
"That decision hurt me a lot, and I stayed single for a long time because I felt no one understood me like her, and I was afraid I might never find someone like her for the rest of my life," he said.
However, he took the opportunity to reveal that he had finally entered into a new relationship and urged people to respect his current partner.
"To my big brothers and sisters, mom and pops in my DMs, always love and respect for her," he said.
The Coastal-born singer confirmed his separation from the Ethiopian beauty in January 2022 after being together with her for almost three years.
The two entered into a relationship in early 2019, just a few months after Otile broke up with the famous Kenyan socialite Vera Sidika.
