Nairobi Chemistry Teacher Starts Guinness World Record Challenge for Longest Science Lesson

 

Rose Tata Wekesa, a Chemistry and Biology teacher, has finally embarked on the Guinness World Record challenge of teaching the Longest Science Lesson. Rose Tata Wekesa teaching students at the multimedia university.  Guinness World Record challenge requires 50 hours The passionate teacher shared her idea in November; months later, it came to pass; she will teach her students for 60 hours from February 13 to February 16. The minimum time for the challenge is 50 hours.  Speaking to TUKO.co.ke Tata said the event was for breaking a record and promoting science subjects among Kenyan and African learners.  "It is a good morning here at the MultiMedia University of Kenya...we are now past the 13th hour.," she said. Tata also shared that the Guinness World Record official attempt for the longest Science Lesson is a public event. "Anyone can come into Multimedia University as long as you have proof of identification like ID card or passport," she said. "I want to follow the classes can follow on my YouTube Challenge," she added. Subscribe to watch new videos Sonko urges Kenyans to support Tata's Guinness Record Challenge In another story, former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko urged Kenyans to stand with teacher Tata Wekesa from St Augustins Academy. Sonko said Tata was a family friend and gave KSh 100,000 for the noble kitty. Tata pleaded with Kenyans to help her raise money for the challenge, which shall cover food, transport branding, etc. "I am doing this to encourage young students not to fear science subjects as everything in the world is based on Science. If we don't encourage them to embrace science we are going to have a problem in future," shared Tata. "I also doing it to make teachers be esteemed and show the world that we can do something outside the class as well," she added.
