Malindi Bound Tahmeed Bus Ferrying 48 Passengers Bursts Into Flames
Forty-eight passengers from Kitale to Malindi have cheated death after a Tahmeed bus they were travelling in burst into flames on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway a few kilometres from Voi town. What caused the fire? The incident happened on Sunday morning, February 4, at around 4:00 a.m."We are deeply sorry to inform you that one of our bus KCV 462X travelling from Kitale to Malindi experienced a fire incident earlier today. The bus caught fire around 4:00 AM near the Voi area. Fortunately, all 48 passengers onboard were evacuated safely and promptly. We are grateful for the swift action that ensured everyone's safety,” said part of a statement from the company. “Our teams helped the passengers complete their journey on alternative buses. The cause of the fire is still under investigation,” added the statement. The management confirmed that all 48 individuals on board were moved to alternative vehicles to continue their journey. The company also expressed its apologies for the inconvenience and distress caused to all the travellers during the tragic unseen incident. "We understand this event may have caused significant inconvenience and distress, and we sincerely apologise for any impact it has had on our passengers," said the management.
