Kenyan Woman Dies in Road Accident in Australia Months after Relocating There for Work

 

Uasin Gishu county - A family in Turbo is grieving the tragic death of their kin in Australia. Sheila Jeptum breathed her last on February 7.  Twenty-one-year-old Sheila Jeptum is reported to have been involved in a nasty accident in Brisbane. A preliminary probe indicated that a Hyundai Elantra crossed onto the opposite side of the road and struck a Holden Colorado utility, killing Jeptum together with the driver. Until her death, the young woman had been residing in New South Wales."It's with profound shock and disbelief to announce the untimely demise of Sheila Jeptum(21) that occurred on February 7, 2024 in Brisbane where she had gone to work. Sheila was involved in a road accident and she died on the spot," read an obit update from Kitwek, a community based organisation in Australia. This came weeks after two other Kenyans died in a grisly accident in Australia. The male students lost their lives after a vehicle they were travelling in lost control, rammed into a tree, and burst into flames on a busy highway. Grisly crash that claimed 2 lives According to The Australian, emergency services were called to the scene of the accident at about 2.10 am, after which they found the vehicle burning. The incident occurred at an intersection on Tonkin Highway near the Albany Highway exit in Gosnells, Perth. A police spokesman told the media that the ill-fated vehicle had left the road and hit a tree before going ablaze. “Emergency Services attended the scene, but sadly, the occupants of the vehicle are deceased,” the spokesman said. A viral video shared online showed the vehicle being consumed by flames as first responders tried to rescue the victims, in vain.
