Hassan Joho Declares Presidential Bid in 2027: "Kama ni Mbaya, Mbaya"

 

The former governor of Mombasa, Ali Hassan Joho, has publicly announced his intention to run for the presidency in 2027. Hassan Joho and Raila Odinga during a political rally before the 2022 polls. Joho expressed his intention to compete with President William Ruto and all other aspirants for the position of head of state. "I finished my politics in Mombasa and left. The seat I will fight for is that of the president of Kenya. Let them prepare themselves because even I will be in the race for the Kenyan presidency in 2027. If it's bad, it's bad. If it's good, it's good. I heard Wycliffe Oparanya is seeking the presidency. I want to tell my brother we will fight it out but within the ODM party. Just watch, you will come to visit me at the State House," he said. He refuted claims that Mombasa residents cannot lead the country in the esteemed position. "Who told you that if you were born in Mombasa, a son of Mombasa cannot be the president of Kenya? Who told you?" posed the ex-governor. Joo asks Raila to endorse him Joho stated that he has wholeheartedly supported Azimio leader Raila Odinga since the beginning of his political career and therefore asked for his endorsement as a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections. "I have supported Raila Odinga with everything I have in all situations. Will it be wrong if I ask him to look at me with compassion as his son and endorse me for presidency?" he asked. Raila reacts to calls to endorse Kalonzo Musyoka Raila responded to calls from Kenyans requesting him to endorse Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, saying that he would not be afraid of supporting him when the time is right. He, however, called for patience, stating that he was still active in politics. "What is the problem if Kalonzo is the candidate? I did not say Kalonzo could not be a candidate. I just said we came from far away with Kalonzo. He supported me, and I can also support him. I did not say I have quit politics. When I quit, I will come out and say it," Raila said.
