The family of Inspector Walter Nyankieya Nyamato, who passed away in Washington DC, is grappling with unanswered questions as the US government takes over the investigation into his death. The Inspector was part of a group of ten officers who left Kenya bound for Haiti, but the family is now left in suspense as they await information about their son's demise. The U.S. government has declared the investigation a government-to-government matter, and the autopsy results are expected to be communicated through the Kenyan embassy in Washington DC. According to Phillip Nyamato, the father of the deceased, the family received news of their son's passing two days after he reached his destination in the United States. The group had dinner together, with plans to meet the next morning before continuing their journey. Shockingly, Inspector Nyamato's body was discovered in his hotel room after he failed to join his colleagues as planned. Reports indicate that the American authorities took control of the investigation, leaving the family in the dark about the circumstances surrounding the death. Phillip Nyamato expressed frustration, saying that even their relative in the U.S., named Wyclife from Minnesota, was unable to gather information as the investigation was labeled government-to-government. “Il was on Tuesday night this week when I received a call from my cousin from Nairobi, and he told me the information that he has may not be a good one," said Isaac Nyamato, the deceased's brother. The family is now anxiously waiting for the post-mortem examination results, which are expected to be relayed through the Kenyan embassy. Friends and neighbours eulogized Inspector Nyamato as a hardworking and community-oriented individual who had a positive impact on his village. As the family continues to grapple with the shock of the sudden loss, they have placed their trust in God and hope for strength during this challenging time. The circumstances surrounding the officers' trip to Haiti remain unclear, with Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow stating that they were attending a seminar in the United States.
