EPRA Reduces Prices of Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene By KSh 1

Kenyans will now save KSh 1 for every litre of petrol, diesel, and kerosene they buy in the next month. EPRA Director General Daniel Kiptoo speaking at a past event.  This followed the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) review on Wednesday, February 14. What are petro prices in Nairobi? EPRA announced a reduction of KSh 1 per litre of super petrol from KSh 207.36 to KSh 206.36, diesel to KSh 195.47 and kerosene to KSh 193.23 "The price of diesel has been cross-subsidised with that of super petrol while kerosene fully stabilised," said EPRA. The regulator noted that the government intends to settle Oil Marketing Companies (OMC) dues under the recovery of costs from the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) Fund. Fuel prices in other towns In Kisumu, motorists will pay KSh 206.12, KSh 193.64 and KSh 193.42 per litre of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene, respectively. In Busia, the same products will cost KSh 207.5, KSh 196.57, and KSh 194.35, respectively. The announcement followed concerns raised by residents of Turkana County over increased fuel prices. They cried foul after spending an additional KSh 7 to buy a litre of petrol, which they say costs KSh 221 as opposed to the EPRA's review of KSh 214. In Kakuma, residents decried the lack of compliance by petrol station owners.  "They do not price based on EPRA reviews... all they care is to bring fuel and retail it based on their own prices," claimed Edwin Esinyen, a resident. EPRA changes pump prices In November 2023, EPRA retained the cost of petrol but reduced the price of diesel and kerosene by KSh 2. In December 2023, EPRA lowered petrol prices by KSh 5.00 per litre, Diesel by KSh 2.00 per litre, and kerosene by KSh 4.01 per litre. In January 2024, EPRA lowered pump prices by KSh 5, KSh 5 and KSh 4.82 per litre of super petrol, diesel, and kerosene, respectively.
