Alfred Keter Ready To Take Over the Opposition If Raila Odinga Gets AU Job

Former Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Alfred Keter, has unequivocally confirmed his position within the opposition government. Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter (l) and Azimio leader Raila Odinga (r) speaking at a burial ceremony in Kitui.  Known for his recent vocal criticism of the government and unwavering commitment to exposing what he perceives as the alleged cruelty of the Kenya Kwanza administration, Keter asserted his dedication to truth-telling. The ex-legislator expressed his alignment with the opposition and hinted at assuming a leadership role from the longstanding opposition leader, Raila Odinga. Why is Keter interested in succeeding Raila? Keter declared that in the event the former premier assumes the AU chairmanship, he stands prepared to serve in any capacity, even contemplating a presidential bid. Highlighting his academic qualifications, Keter emphasised his eligibility for such a prestigious position and asserted his resilience against political pressures. "I see all our MPs and everyone here are supporting the government. As for me, I am the opposition. Raila is exiting the arena for the AU role, and I am already in his place. In fact, I have held it tightly now that he is out. Even if it means becoming the president, I will. You should not threaten us because if it is Kapsabet Boys High School, I went there, University of Nairobi I was there. I have everything," claimed Keter. The ex-Nandi Hills MP claimed that if given the chance, he would revolutionise the nation, while also criticising the president for promoting agendas that do not serve the country's interests. "Our president is a very good marketer, he can market anything. For those who want to eat from the government, let them do so. I will not join them because there is no job I am aiming to get because I believe we can transform this country. If you give me an opportunity I can do it without lies. We want to believe in the truth because it will set us free," he added. To demonstrate his preparedness, the politician criticised President William Ruto for sending Kenyan-trained nurses to Saudi Arabia and other foreign countries while the country's health facilities lack sufficient medical professionals. Keter sneers at Ruto's development plans During the Kenya Development Investment Conference in December 2023, Ruto highlighted that the nation is poised for significant transformation over the next decade.  Keter, in turn, sarcastically acknowledged his remarks, suggesting that this transformation could occur detrimentally. He asserted that the president's management of the country was lacking, casting doubt on the realisation of the president's aspirations.
