Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has urged inmates at the Shimo La Tewa Borstal Institution to change their ways for better.
Speaking when she visited the 204 boys at the institution Pastor Dorcas encouraged the boys undergoing rehabilitation to focus on the formal and technical education they are undergoing, even as they change their ways and look forward to life outside the correctional facility.
“When you change your mindset, and you are reformed for the few years you are here you will go home to better people. We need you out there making lives better. This is a chance for you to be here and make use of it in the technical training you are getting. “She said.
During her visit Pastor Dorcas in partnership donated textbooks, lab equipment and computers to enhance their learning.
The in charge, SSP Jostinah Mwang’ombe, and Close the Gap Founder Baron Olivier pledged to support Pastor Dorcas in her program to transform the lives of the boychild.
Shanzu MCA, Allan Katana encouraged the boys that he was once locked up, but he had transformed and was now a leader.
The institution in Kilifi County hosts the boys for not more than 3 Years where they receive formal education as well as technical training.
Also present were religious leaders led by Bishop Joseph Maisha, Sheikh Ustadh Hassan, Priest Benjamin Mutuku, Regional Commander Prisons Coast Nicolas Mwandau among others.
