Kenyans living in Australia recently came together in a heartfelt ceremony to bid farewell to 21-year-old Sheila Jeptum. Kenyans in Australia Hold Candle-Lit Vigil for Lady Who Died in Road Crash: “Rest in Peace Sheilah” The young woman tragically died after being involved in an accident in Brisbane on February 7, 2024. Sheilah, who had relocated to Australia for work, died on the spot just one year after she moved abroad. In a post shared by Alfred Koech, Kenyans living in Sydney gathered in an emotional ceremony to remember the departed woman. “Today, Kenyans in Sydney held a candlelit vigil for Sheilah, who perished in a road accident a few weeks ago. Special thanks to the community for their overwhelming support,” Koech captioned the photos. The accident that claimed her life occurred when the Hyundai Elantra she was travelling in crossed onto the opposite side of the road and collided with a Holden Colorado utility. The impact of the collision resulted in the deaths of both Sheila and the driver of the Holden Colorado. Sheila’s demise left the Kenyan community in Australia in mourning, with many remembering her as a young woman with a bright future ahead of her.
