Marakwet Daughter warns DJs In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, the songstress accused Kenyan DJs of exploiting her. She said they frequently upload her viral song, Mali Safi Chito, to their YouTube channels, which she finds unacceptable. Pointing a finger at the camera, the singer warned the DJs that they should never include her song in their YouTube mixes. She explained that she put a lot of effort into making the song and, as such, feels like the DJs are profiting off her hard work. However, she clarified that they can use the song in mixes played at clubs or events, just not on YouTube. “DJs heshimu kazi yangu, you are not allowed kuupload my music in your YouTube channel. Unajua chenye nilipitia ndo nikarecord hiyo wimbo? I have the rights, I own the rights it is registered. Do not upload my work on your YouTube channel. Piga sherehe, tumia song, furahia…pata ya event but not YouTube,” she said. Perhaps to lighten the mood, she clarified that only one DJ had used the song in his YouTube mixes, though she did not reveal his name.
