Source: Facebook On Monday, February 5, Waititu claimed that Ruto had pledged to consider either him, Francis Kimemia (former Nyandarua county governor), or Kiraitu Murungi (former Meru senator) as his running mate in the 2022 polls.  “Before the election, William Ruto called me, Kiraitu Murungi and Francis Kimemia for a meeting where he promised that one us would be his deputy,” he claimed during an interview at a local radio, Kameme FM. Kenyans responded with scepticism, pointing to Waititu’s impeachment for incompetence and corruption scandals. Kenyans doubt Waititu’s claim Mumias East member of parliament, Peter Salasya, remarked that if Waititu had such influence in the country, it would be easier for him to ascend to the top seat. “Ferdinand Waititu saying that William Ruto was considering him for deputy president. . Halafu mnasema siwezi kua president siku moja kama Baba yao alikua candidate for DP,”he hilariously said. Another citizen identified as @clairecesc dismissed the allegations stating that Ruto made the wisest decision to abandon Waititu. “The president’s decision not to offer you the position was undoubtedly a wise one. If you had obtained that position, there is no telling the extent of the corruption and wrongdoing that could have occurred. Now, you are publicly demonstrating just how self-serving you genuinely are. It is disheartening to witness this blatant display of selfishness.” @SehnSecurities “Seems the entire nation is disappointed in one way or another. Hata hivyo, Waititu should be thankful the courts are not running after him day-in day-out.” @NelsonMogaka_ “Hata kama ni wewe unaeza chukua waititu kuwa deputy?” @brian_mutiga said: “President Ruto is a smart politician. This is how he was playing these people and that is how he is currently playing Kenyans.” Waititu ditches Ruto’s party In December 2023, Waititu stated that he was misled to join the president’s party during the 2022 campaigns. He accused the party members of dishonesty after he was offered an opportunity that seemed nonexistent.  “I was misled to join UDA. I had high hopes when I joined UDA, but I am grateful that I gradually discovered the party was full of dishonest people. They gave me an unclear job and then used some people to take it away from me through the courts. It’s akin to giving a dog and then taking it away from it,” said Waititu.
