Almost one week after socialite Starlet Wahu Mwangi was allegedly killed by her lover John Matara, it has emerged that the latter started his extortionist activities about one year ago. John Matara, who was captured in a video harassing a lady. How does John Matara get his victims? A video showing the alleged killer embroiled in a scuffle with a lady after visiting her has emerged.  Speaking to NTV, a lady identified as Maureen said she encountered the dreaded man in April 2023 after her friend informed her that she was going to entertain a male visitor whom she had met online. "At first, he used to be so nice to her and I even visited them one day. After about one hour, I heard a cry for help coming from my friend's house. We tried to enter the house but it seemed that it was locked form inside and she couldn't get to the door," said Maureen. Video shows Matara harassing woman A video clip shows the commotion in the house belonging to Maureen's friend with a disgruntled Matara, who was dressed in a blue top, claiming that the alleged lady of the night had refused to offer him 'service'.A group of boda boda riders helped to calm the situation. According to the lady, Matara had tape and rope similar to the ones he used on Pastor Kanyari's sister and another lady who came forward. "He has long fingernails and he hurt me so much that up to this day, I don't eat things like chapati, I eat soft things," said one of his victims. "He burnt me with iron so that I could give him the passoword to my phone and also did that for M-Pesa PIN and account PIN added the lady. He gauges the amount he wants after looking at the total and demands it from you, " she added. Did Matara's victims report him? Maureen also shared that on December 31, 2023, Matara had a knife to the lady's neck, and he was telling her to ask people for money. "It has been a sequence and we have been warning others about him. I can identify him and I have people I can call ,"said the lady.  "The more a victim holds back because of embarrassment, the more criminals become bolder; they don't change numbers, they don't run away and they keep communication with some of their victims wanting more money from them," added the lady. The ladies have bitterly complained about alleged police inaction after reports were made in various police stations from Ng'ong Road to Kahawa Wendani and Kahawa West to Kasarani. What are new charges leveled against Matara "Personally, I don't think it should matter whether you wanted to meet someone for a hook -up or love, none should kill you or do unspeakable things to you and you cannot cry to the government for help," said the escort. "I would ask the police just to put more effort to investigate even the smallest detail to avoid more people becoming victims or picking dead bodies on different parts of the country," she added. It also emerged that stigmatisation and seclusion from society make the ladies of the night afraid to report what they are going through at the hands of the criminals. More women are flocking to the Industrial Area Police Station to report their ordeals. At the moment, instigators are considering opening a separate file on fraud, conspiracy to defraud, obtaining money by false pretence, and causing grievous harm in Matara's name.
