Starlet Wahu: Slain Socialite, Partner Took HIV Test Before She Was Murdered in Airbnb

 

Starlet Wahu Mwangi, a Nairobi socialite, was brutally murdered in an Airbnb apartment in Nairobi. Mwangi's body was taken to City Mortuary for a postmortem, while the prime suspect was traced to Mbagathi County Hospital.According to police, the 26-year-old checked in at Papino Apartments in South B Estate on Wednesday for a fun-filled night alongside her partner, John Matara. Wahu's last moments alive were captured on CCTV camera as she and Matara checked into the building.  She wore a short red dress, a blue jacket, and black high heels, while her partner donned a pair of brown trousers, a blue shirt, and black boots. . However, things went sour between them, and the 34-year-old allegedly stabbed Mwangi in the head and the thigh, leaving her for dead. Guard saw suspect fleeing The owner of the Airbnb, Florence Ngina, said she was alerted by the gateman, who saw Matara fleeing the scene with blood-stained clothes. She alerted police officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), who arrived at the scene to gather evidence. Given that the apartment was locked, the officers accessed it through a spare key from the owner. Inside was a horrific scene, with Mwangi's lifeless body lying in a pool of blood.  Duo took an HIV test The blood spatters on the walls pointed to a violent struggle that ensued before the murder. While processing the scene, detectives found a Samsung phone, a bottle of alcohol, condoms, marijuana and a kitchen knife suspected to be the murder weapon. According to Nation, the crime scene investigators also found an HIV test kit whose results were negative. Mwangi's body was taken to City Mortuary for a postmortem while Matara, who is the prime suspect, was traced to Mbagathi County Hospital, where he had gone for treatment. The motive behind the murder is still unknown, and police are investigating the relationship between the two. The man of God revealed that the suspect captured with his sister on the CCTV video had not met Starlet's family.Kanyari noted that it was a sad time for the family as they were heartbroken upon learning of the young woman. “I am heartbroken; she was doing so well in life. We last met on Christmas, and on December 31, we spent time together at home. We had not seen the man before. We learned about him after her death. This is tragic for us, the family, and even her friends. May her soul rest in peace,” he said.
