Philip Karanja shares lessons he picked in 2023 – Exclusive

 

Former Tahidi High actor turned TV series maestro, Philip Karanja, recently discussed his aspirations for a lasting legacy in the film industry.

In an exclusive interview with Nairobi News during the launch of Phil-production’s comedy film titled “Haki Mwaki,” Karanja expressed his desire to be remembered as the king of film.

“I want to be remembered as the guy who brought money to film, and filmmakers were able to become millionaires and live comfortably off film. I also want to inspire parents out there, so when their kids express a desire to be filmmakers, the parents won’t discourage them. They will be like, we know Phil, go for it, and that is a good career,” Phil said.

Discussing his latest film, “Haki Mwitu,” Karanja described it as a show about four vigilantes tired of prevalent corruption who decide to take matters into their own hands.

He also explained his company’s plans for the year.

“We started working on the project in 2023 and began shooting in November 2023, and we are still shooting. Phil production also has a new series in the pipeline, and we plan to release a new film this year. There’s a lot to watch out for,” he added.

Reflecting on lessons learned in 2023, Karanja emphasized overcoming fear and taking action.

He celebrated reaching 100k subscribers on his YouTube channel, expressing pride in the success of “Becoming CEO,” a show focused on business and life.

“I am happy that I can create a manual for entrepreneurs out there to learn from. Those conversations are very dear, and they are great inspiration,” said Karanja.

Planning ambitiously for 2024, Karanja shared that he has set specific targets for the year.

“I plan for the year before it starts and so, in 2024, I have set targets for this year which I am already working towards achieving them.”

Reflecting on his journey, he briefly mentioned signing his first million-dollar contract as he approached his 30s, marking a significant milestone in his career.
