Nyeri: Middle-Aged Woman Found Dead, Body Dumped in Thicket Amid Protests Against Femicide
The police have launched an investigation into a bizarre incident following the discovery of a middle-aged woman's body. Police officers close off a crime scene. The body of the lady was found in a thicket in Kiharu village, Mukurwe¬ini Sub-County. Mukurweini Sub-County Police Commander Beatrice Nyaga said the unidentified lady’s face was disfigured, had bruises on her neck and thighs and one of her arms was broken. How was the unidentified body in Nyeri found She explained that the body had defensive wounds, indicating signs of struggle with her killers. Nyaga revealed that the the locals were unable to identify the lady hence, her fingerprints were collected to be taken to DCI laboratories to aid the process. A medical examination found on the body revealed she was sexually assaulted by her killers or different people altogether. "The stomach was swollen, so it is yet to be confirmed whether she was pregnant or not," Nyaga said. The body was moved to the Mukuruweini sub-county mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination. Rise in femicide in Kenya The death of the lady is yet another death that has raised questions among Kenyans, especially ladies. Hundreds of women in Nyeri held a peaceful march in the county to protest against the brutal killings that have targeted ladies. Sharon Kimuma, one of the ladies involved in the march and SHAKEM Foundation founder, said she joined the protest "I am here today to say no to femicide, that women's lives matter just like everyone's life. So for whatever, a woman should not die," she said.
