Bridgit Atieno from Nairobi's Sinai slums in the Industrial Area has embarked on an educational journey she dropped out of 12 years ago. Nairobi: 27-Year-Old Mother Who Dropped Out of Form Two 12 Years Ago Rejoins Secondary School After facing numerous financial challenges, the 27-year-old was forced out of school and could not complete her high school education. In a post on Facebook, the mother of one disclosed that her woes started in 2011 while she was a Form One student at Jogoo Road Girls High School. She transferred to Kubweye Mixed Secondary School in Migori County for Form Two in 2012 but left due to the inability of her parents to sustain pay fees for her and her siblings. Bridgit stated that many opportunities presented themselves, but the lack of a formal education certificate disappointed her repeatedly. "I have once in my life been nominated as a woman representative in Viwandani area, Makadara, but I didn't make it because I didn't have the papers," she recalled. Eyes on joining university Losing something significant due to the absence of necessary papers was a wake-up call, pushing her to reevaluate her priorities. Bridgit decided to take charge of her future by returning to school to complete her high school studies and avoid similar situations. She revealed that her ultimate dream is to proceed to university and pursue a career in either Journalism or Law. "I want to straighten up my life and give my son a better life. I am back because I have experienced hardship that can only be solved by getting myself educated," she wrote. Looking forward to better days Bridgit believes that education is the key to transforming her life and positively impacting those around her. In a powerful message to others facing similar struggles, she highlighted the importance of knowing what works best for oneself and working towards achieving it. She emphasized that it doesn't matter how or when one embarks on their journey as long as the effort is genuine and beneficial to both personal growth and the community. "I can't wait to see what life has to offer because it's never too late to dream again and achieve our goals in life, one step at a time," she passionately declared. Bridgit needs books, fees Reached for comment, Bridgit told TUKO.co.ke that her biggest hurdle is getting school fees and books funds. Her admission letter indicates that she must have KLB course books (Mathematics, Biology or Physics, Chemistry, History or Geography, CRE, Business Studies or Agriculture, Computer, or Home Science. The others are Integrated English, Kiswahili Kitukuzwe, and Fasihi set books Mapambazuko ya Machweo, Nguu za Jadi, and Bembea ya Maisha. She also needs a Four Figure Mathematical Table 16th or 17th edition, a Scientific Calculator (Casio fx-82EX), and a geometrical set. "I'm requesting anyone who might have Form One textbooks to help because I'm starting from level one, and I need the books," she pleaded.
