Laban Kiptoo: New Twist as Boda Rider Who Carried Slain Doctor Confirms Dropping Him at the Hospital

Surveillance video at the Nakuru Level 6 Hospital has shown how Laban Kiptoo accessed the facility before being found dead the following morning. Surveillance videos at the Nakuru Level 6 Hospital captured Laban Kiptoo entering the facility before he was found murdered.  He had just spent the night with his friends at Club Havana on London Street along the Nakuru-Kabarnet Road before heading to the hospital where he interned. Dominic Yegon is the rider who ferried Kiptoo to his station of work. He told NTV that he helped Laban access the hospital and safely left him there. It is yet to be figured out how he made a U-turn to his death. "I found him while leaving the club. After 10 to 15 minutes, I convinced him for a ride and directed me to the hospital. I dropped him at the junction between the morgue and the maternity wing. We entered the gate without being asked anything," Yegon recalled. Addressing the media, government pathologist Titus Ngulungu said the body had injuries on the head and part of the abdomen, as well as bruises on his wrists and lips. “As a result of my examination I have formed the opinion that the cause of death was asphyxia due to compression of the neck,” said Ngulungu. The pathologist also ruled out the possibility of the deceased drowning, as he was found in a trench.  Kiptoo's tragic end left his kin and colleagues heartbroken as they came out to demand justice. His sister learnt of the tragedy via social media. "Why am I finding out through the internet that My brother is dead?" What KMPDU said about Laban Kiptoo's death The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) called for speedy investigations into the death. In a statement on Sunday, January 14, KMPDU secretary-general Davji Atellah called on the DCI to move with speed and establish the cause of his death. "We implore the relevant authorities to expedite the process, ensuring that justice is served swiftly. "We demand that county governments and hospital management prioritise the safety of healthcare workers, particularly medical interns," Atellah said.
