Journalist Tony Kwalanda lands new lucrative TV job
Celebrated media personality Tony Kwalanda has landed a new job at Cape Media-owned station TV47.
The renowned sports presenter is the latest addition to the station’s star-studded lineup of presenters tasked to propel it to the next level.
The station used their socials to announce Kwalanda’s arrival – banking on his vast experience in the sports world.
“Stepping into the spotlight with decades of game-changing insights, our seasoned sports journalist takes the anchor seat at @tv47news, where every story is a touchdown and every interview a slam dunk! Get ready for a new era of sports coverage with the sports guru @KWALANDA Stay tuned,” read a post from the station.
On the other hand, Kwalanda also used his socials to alert his fans and followers that he had found a new home.
Kwalanda has previously worked with several media houses among them K24, Switch TV, and Look UpTV.
He worked at K24 for 11 years before being fired through a redundancy noy=tice that saw the station send home its entire newsroom.
“I am switching to another station and taking sports to a whole new level. Thank you K24 for the 11 years of GREAT experience. WATCH THIS SPACE FOR MY NEXT MOVE!!!” Kwalanda said in his exit message.
He later joined Switch TV to host Sports Centre. While at Switch TV, Kwalanda was lucky to find love after dating and proposing to actress Joyce Maina who was also his colleague at the station. However, their relationship did not last long.
They however parted ways a few months after their engagement.
Towards the end of 2021, Tony Kwalanda joined politics to vie for the Manda Shivanga Ward in the Malava constituency. He did not win.
In May 2023, he made a media comeback, joining Look Up TV, as the host of Sports 360.
