In an interview with 2mbili, the businessman disclosed he started from scratch working as a watchman, earning KSh 8,000 monthly.  At the time, he lived in a shared room in Mukuru kwa Njenga slums. I was living in Mukuru kwa Njenga with five people as I could not afford rent," he revealed. JJ Titus's IT business After starting the business, Titus moved from the single room in Mukuru kwa Njenga to a two-bedroom house in Roasters along the Thika superhighway. His business was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing him to shut down, but this opened doors for him. He noted that since the pandemic led to movement restrictions, all he could do was watch a movie at home. "I decided not to watch a movie but instead opened my laptop where I met a European who wanted to start an institution and was looking for an Information Technology (IT) technician. Acquiring proficiency in software development proved to be a lucrative endeavour for him, paving the way for his entry into the software sales arena. As he honed his skills in software creation, he not only found financial success but also seized the opportunity to launch a thriving business by selling the software. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Lid Group of Companies. The group deals with IT, services, manufacturing, events, media, and agribusiness. He disclosed that the lowest earnings he garnered from the business amounted to KSh 5 million. Which car does JJ Titus drive? The businessman, who does not shy away from displaying his opulence, said income from his business enables him to drive sleek cars. One of his rides is a Lexus LX570, which costs a whopping KSh 24 million. He said he opted to import the car from Japan for his wedding instead of hiring one. He paid KSh 1 million for a customised number plate showing his name, while annual insurance costs nearly the same amount. Fueling the car costs over KSh 15,000 weekly. Which other millionaires were watchmen? Besides Titus, several other Kenyan millionaires we see today were security guards in their early lives. Bedrock Security Services founder Erick Okeyo worked as a watchman at Nile Perch Victoria in Kisumu county in his early life. Dango 5 Security Ltd founder Duncan Kobetbet dropped out of school in Class Seven, but this didn't deter him from succeeding.
