If you know, you know-Kenyans note new UoN Chancellor looks like famous 'entertainer'

 

President William  Ruto on Fri Jan 12 appointed environmentalist Patrick Verkooijen as UON’s Chancellor. He takes over from Dr Vijoo Rattansi whose tenure has ended and was appointed for a five-year term. 

Fifty-four-year-old -old Verkooijen is the CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation. He also served as the Chair of the university's Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies.

A Dutch national, Prof Verkooijen holds a Ph.D. from Wageningen University, an MPA from Harvard, a Master's in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, and an environmental engineering degree from the University of Utrecht Applied Sciences.

The news was received differently by Kenyans, but the most interesting was his striking resemblance to the most talented bald man.

President Ruto said he was thrilled that Prof Verkooijen will be leading the institution.

The Head of State spoke of the wealth of experience the Dutchman came with that he felt would help stimulate the University of Nairobi’s growth.
