Governor Timamy's son among top KCSE performers

 

Abdalla Issa Timamy (18) is among the top students at Sheik Khalifa Bin Zayed School who scored an A in the just-released KCSE exams.

Issa is the fourth-born son of Lamu governor Issa Timamy.

He scored an A of 83 points to be among the 9 top students who scored an A at the institution.

"I feel very lucky to have done well in my exams. I want to thank God, my teachers and my parents for the support they gave me," said young Issa.

He attributed his good performance to hard work and dedication.

Issa who said that he wants to pursue law at the University of Nairobi or Strathmore, said that he draws his inspiration from his father.

"I would like to pursue law and follow in the footsteps of my father," he said.

He called on parents and teachers to allow students to take in co-curricular activities saying that not all students are good in academics.

Issa was a member of the school's swimming and science clubs.

Sheikh Khalifa principal Sheikh Rishad Rajab lauded him for his performance saying that he has proven that not all politicians' children are spoilt as many assume.

"He has demonstrated how disciplined the family is. His elder brother also went through this institution and did very well. We thank the governor for trusting us with his son," He said.

The principal thanked the government for the new grading system saying that it is student-oriented and attributed it to the school's good performance.

The school has recorded 9 straight As compared to last year's 7.

Last year, the school registered a mean score of 9.0 with a 96.7 per cent transition to university.

This year, the school had a total of 210 candidates, 109 boys and 101 girls.

"Our target for this year is to have a mean score of 9.5. We were hoping for a 100 per cent university transition, but we are looking at 98 to 99 points something thereabout because one of the students has scored a C plain," Rajab said
