Family of Slain Nakuru Doctor Decries Lack of Progress in Investigations: "Tutaachia Mungu"

Laban Kiptoo was finally laid to rest at his parents' home in Chematich, Kitale on Saturday, January 27. Family of Slain Nakuru Doctor Decries Lack of Progress in Investigations: "Tutaachia Mungu"  The 26-year-old was found dead on January 13, outside the Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital where he interned as a doctor. Speaking on the sidelines of the send-off ceremony, the deceased's family was unimpressed by how the investigations into their kin's murder were being conducted.  They said that they were yet to be briefed by the investigators on the probe's progress two weeks later. Seeming to give up, Kiptoo's father Johana Rono surrendered the matter to his God. "And if the government fails, because the investigators are humans, we are going to let God deal with the killers," he said. "The investigations are taking so much time. I don't think it had to take this long given that it was known where he was murdered, inside the hospital. We are asking for justice on behalf of our child," said the mother, Sarah Ronoh. The postmortem conducted on the body revealed that the medical intern died of manual strangultion. Addressing the media, government pathologist Titus Ngulungu said the body had injuries on the head and part of the abdomen, as well as bruises on his wrists and lips. “As a result of my examination I have formed the opinion that the cause of death was asphyxia due to compression of the neck,” said Ngulungu. The pathologist also ruled out the possibility of the deceased drowning, as he was found in a trench. Kiptoo's tragic end left his kin and colleagues heartbroken as they came out to demand justice. His sister learnt of the tragedy via social media. "Why am I finding out through the internet that My brother is dead?"
