Diamond and Zuchu’s ‘romance’ exposed as clout chasing by their families
Love in the limelight can be a double-edged sword, and the purported romantic entanglement between Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz and his protégé Zuchu seems to be proving just that.
Recent revelations from both families hint at a strategic move to keep the public talking and consuming their content.
The on-and-off relationship between Diamond and Zuchu, initiated when Diamond signed Zuchu under his WCB Records label, has been a subject of speculation and rumors.
Collaborations between the two further fueled the gossip mill, leaving fans guessing whether their connection is purely professional or romantically involved.
Mama Dangote, Diamond’s mother, dismissed the notion that her son has ever introduced Zuchu as a potential wife.
Contrary to widespread beliefs about their romantic involvement, Mama Dangote noted that Diamond has not made any decisions about settling down.
“He has never brought Zuchu to me and said he wants to marry her. Every day we are with her, I don’t know, I know her as an artist. As far as I know, a fiancé is the one to whom you send letters and dowry,” clarified Mama Dangote.
Responding to claims that people were aware of their relationship, Mama Dangote questioned the validity of such assumptions, stating:
“How do they know? Have they gone to the house? This world, since Naseeb started singing, everyone has been linked to him as his wife.”
This isn’t the first time Mama Dangote has downplayed Zuchu’s connection with her son.
In a previous instance, she supported the idea of singer Tanasha as a suitable wife for Diamond.
Zuchu, on her part, has consistently affirmed Diamond as her first and only lover, sharing intimate moments and expressing exclusivity in their relationship.
However, Zuchu’s mother, the legendary singer Khadija Kopa, has continued disapproving of her daughter’s relationship with Diamond.
Kopa pointed out that Zuchu has yet to introduce her partner formally to the family and highlighted the cultural tradition that recognises relationships only after following the customary process of dowry payment.
“Matters of her relationship, I am not aware of them. Because in our culture, we only recognise relationships when a suitor has come forward, and that’s when you become aware of the relationship. But relationships from the outside, I am not privy to,” stated Kopa.
She added, “But she is not married yet, there is no dowry. If someone has money, they should come, it’s not a lot of money. Simba has not married her nor brought dowry. He is neither her husband nor her fiancé. Anyone else can come.”
Diamond, however, seems to be staking his claim on Zuchu and addressing potential romantic rivals directly.
In a move to expose an admirer, Diamond shared screenshots of amorous text messages sent to Zuchu, warning the individual and affirming his awareness of the situation.
“Mwenye hii namba, nikujuze tu kuwa mwanamke wangu @officialzuchu amenifikishia habari zako! (As for the owner of this number, let me inform you that my woman @officialzuchu has brought me all you communication!” )” Diamond shared a screenshot.
