Body of Mkokoteni pusher found at a make shift shelter in Kariokor

The body of a cart pusher was on Sunday recovered from a makeshift he had been sheltering in Nairobi’s Kariokor area.

Police said the body of Stephen Maina, 26 was discovered long after he had been hacked in the head.

The body was covered with a bedsheet.

The scene of the murder is a common sleeping area for many cart pushers in the city.

Police who visited the scene said there were signs of disturbances.

The benches had been turned upside down an indication of struggle before he was killed.

A building block with blood stains believed to be the murder weapon was found beside the body which was collected together with the blood-stained clothes and kept as exhibits.

Police say they will subject them to DNA analysis as part of the probe into the murder.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known and police are still hunting for the killers. The body of the man was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.

In another incident in Ruiru, Kiambu County, the body of a bodaboda rider was found in a bush after he had been murdered by unknown people.

The deceased was identified as Patrick Karimi, 37.

Police said the body had an injury on the head and appeared to have been hit by a blunt object.

His motorcycle was missing at the scene and police believe it is the motive of the murder.

A probe and hunt for the killers are ongoing. The body was moved to the mortuary.

And in Obunga, Kisumu County, police are investigating the murder of a man whose body was found at a quarry.

The body of the bodaboda rider identified as Leakey Otieno was found with a deep cut on the head on Sunday.
