Azimio is still mourning 2022 election loss – Kidero

Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has said that the Azimio party are still lamenting over the 2022 elections.

Speaking on Wednesday, he said that ODM is going through the five stages of mourning and they are currently at the anger stage.

He said the party has been in the denial stage for long and he understands that they need time to heal.

"I know that they are still mourning the loss of elections in 2022. For the longest time they were living in denial they even said President William Ruto was not their president. When they move from the stage of denial they go to anger and we have seen the ODM brigade are very angry and what they are displaying in this discussion is anger," Kidero said on K24 TV.

"They are going to be in a third stage of depression, then they'll go to the fourth stage of negotiation and then acceptance so let's allow them to tone down

He was reacting to remarks by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna who on Tuesday stated that they still respect Chief Justice Martha Koome despite the outcome of the 2022 election ruling.

Sifuna in his address also added that should there be any talks between the Judiciary and the Executive as planned, Kenyans must also be present and part of whatever agreements will be made in the meeting.

Ruto on Tuesday also said he is ready for talks with Chief Justice Martha Koome to address alleged corruption in the judiciary.

The President’s statement came after Koome revealed that the Judiciary had written to Ruto seeking an audience to establish the genesis of his complaints against the arm.
