MP Intervenes with Scholarship after Woman Uses 2 Goats for Daughter’s Form One Admission

Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo has offered to sponsor the education of a needy girl who showed up at a school with two goats to facilitate her Form One admission. Keiyo South MP Gideon Kimaiyo (pictured right) offered to sponsor a needy girl who took herself to school with two goats. The needy student had secured a place at Queen of Peace Secondary in Marakwet East and was accompanied to the institution by her mother who was ready to substitute the fees with her livestock. They were spotted with a blue trunk, a used mattress and a bucket as their only articles for admission.Their photos were widely published on social media, catching Kimaiyo’s attention. He said he would shoulder the responsibility to educate the girl throughout her four-year course, despite them not being his constituents. Kimaiyo asked the woman to take the goats with her back home as he took care of the girl’s schooling needs. “Though the girl doesn’t come from my constituency, I was touched by this story. Today I talked to the principal and paid the school fees. I will sponsor the girl for four years. Her mother will have the goats back and we pray they will procreate massively,” said the lawmaker.
