Kawira Mwangaza’s brother Murangiri Kenneth Guantai and his co-accused Vincent Mureithi have been implicated in the murder of Daniel Muthiani. The late Daniel Muthiani (l) was brutally murdered in December 2023.  The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) ordered their arraignment in a statement released on Thursday, January 19. “The director of public prosecutions (DPP) is satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to sustain the charge of murder against Vincent Murithi Kirimi alias Supuu and Murangiri Kenneth Guantai alias Tali,” the statement partly read. The ODPP’s directive came after the duo was interrogated by the officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who had been undertaking their probe into the murder. The state further filed a miscellaneous application against five other suspects. “The ODPP undertakes to prosecute the matter expeditiously, and shall upon completion of the investigations issue appropriate directions,” the statement added. A postmortem examination conducted on the body of the deceased revealed that he was strangled. During a press briefing on Friday, December 22, after the examination at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, government pathologist Johansen Oduor said Sniper had marks on his neck. He explained that he showed signs of a person who lacked oxygen, had fractured ribs, and showed injuries on his head, which suggested that he was strangled before being thrown into a river.
