FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards are reportedly in talks to secure the services of Rwandese striker Arthur Gitego from Marines FC.
According to Rwanda Times, Leopards have submitted an offer for the talented forward, with speculations suggesting that Marines FC may be inclined to consider the deal during the January transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.
AFC Leopards attempt
AFC Leopards will be the third club to attempt to secure the services of Arthur Gitego within a year. Previous pursuits by Georgian side FC Gagra and Tunisia’s CA Bizertin were unsuccessful as Marines FC resisted the moves.
AFC Leopards, currently facing challenges in the league, have struggled to find the back of the net, failing to score in seven out of their first 16 matches of the 2023/24 season.
The team has an average of 0.75 goals per match, and their head coach, Thomas Trucha, has openly acknowledged the team’s lack of creativity in front of goal as a significant impediment this season.
Brian Yakhama stands out as the leading scorer for AFC Leopards with five goals, but the team has managed to score more than one goal in a match on only three occasions during the campaign.

With a desire to address their goal-scoring woes, it seems AFC Leopards is actively seeking a solution in the transfer market.
