Winnie Odinga reveals she suffered a leg injury in Rwanda

Winnie Odinga has been missing from the public, and will continue to do so following an injury.

The EALA Mp revealed that she had been injured recently and is recovering from an achilles tendon.

"Some of you have been asking why Ive been quiet.I ruptured my achilles tendon during the IPG in Rwanda. " she said she would be off the public radar for some time.

The Interparliamentary games took place December 8th to 18.

The annual sports event saw more than 1000 parliamentarians from six member states of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan gather to compete.

The IPG play a fundamental role in enabling EALA’s interaction with members of the national parliaments, staff and citizens of East Africa.

According to medical journals, this is is an injury that affects the back of your lower leg. It mainly occurs in people playing recreational sports, but it can happen to anyone.

The Achilles tendon is a strong fibrous cord that connects the muscles in the back of your calf to your heel bone. If you overstretch your Achilles tendon, it can tear (rupture) completely or just partially.

If your Achilles tendon ruptures, you might hear a pop, followed by an immediate sharp pain in the back of your ankle and lower leg that is likely to affect your ability to walk properly. Surgery is often performed to repair the rupture. For many people, however, nonsurgical treatment works just as well.

Langata MP Phelix Odiwour aka Jalango also eary this year suffered the same inuury. He told that he got hurt while playing with his fellow Mps in a bunge basketball training.

Jalango is still recovering and exercising hoping to return to normal.

Best wishes to the two.
