Wiclife Obala: Staunch Gor Mahia Fan Dies in Road Accident While Returning from Match in Machakos

 

The Gor Mahia Football Club fraternity has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of one of them. Wiclife Obala(front row in black shirt) during the match at Machakos Stadium.  An evening of partying and celebration following Gor Mahia's win over Bandari FC has been clouded by sadness. Wiclife Obala, a die-hard Gor Mahia fan, reportedly fell off a moving vehicle amid the excitement of the win that took Kogallo to the top of the league. He is alleged to have sustained severe head injuries that eventually took his life. In a statement on Facebook, fellow K'Ogallo die-hard Jaro Soja mourned the young man, adding that all human beings were guests on Earth. "My condolences to the family. This happened today after Gor mahia vs Bandari on our way back to Nairobi. On our way back...we lost our own through a road accident..Wiclife Obala. Condolences to his family. May his soul RIP. My condolences to the family. Sisi sote ni wageni saa ya kuenda na vile tunaenda ndio tafauti. RIP Sirkal Obala director," said Jaro Soja. What should be done to avert such tragedies? The famous Gor Mahia fan further urged club supporters' branch leaders to ensure fans don't hang on doors when heading to matches.  He said it should be made a requisite that all fans should ride with the rest on the bus or matatu while heading to and from matches. "The branch chairman should make sure nobody hangs kwa mlango ya gari tukienda kuona mpira. Kila mtu akae ndani ya gari please (on the bus door as we go to watch the football match. Everyone, please stay inside the bus)." he told TUKO.co.ke. Former Gor Mahia footballer collapses, dies during match In August, Rafael Asudi, who is a former Gor Mahia Footballer, collapsed and died during a football match at Thika Municipal Stadium. Asudi collapsed on Sunday, August 13, as he was featured in a friendly match for Seniors FC against Thika Vitambi. Radio presenter Fred Arocho shared information on his death on social media, and so far, his heartbroken fans are already mourning the talented musician.  "The left-foot player collapsed moments ago at Thika Municipal stadium while featuring in a friendly match for Seniors FC against Thika Vitambi," Arocho posted on social media.
