Ngunyi to Kenyans: Give Ruto a chance, he's work in progress

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has urged Kenyans to give President William Ruto a chance to work for them.

According to Ngunyi, Ruto is still a work in progress because there is no school for the presidency.

He went on to say that this is evident through the reducing prices of commodities like maize flour and fuel prices which have gone down in the last two months.

"Unga has gone down. Fact. Fuel is going down. Fact. Where is the lie? Ruto is a work in progress. He is a President-in-formation. There is no school for presidency. A lie delivered slowly was a promise made urgently. Give Ruto a chance," Ngunyi said.

He was reacting to Thursday's drop in cost of fuel that was announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

Ngunyi who was previously a critic of Ruto, having supported the Azimio side of the political divide during the August 2022 presidential election, has been openly showing support for the president and what he is doing.

Last month, he told off individuals who have been pushing for the 'Ruto must go agenda', insisting that the presidency is the lowest level of leadership President William Ruto can get to.

He noted that if he (Ruto) has to go anywhere, the President can only go higher.

The former Technical adviser to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta added that the critics should give Ruto a chance to find his balance.

"Ruto must go. Go where? This is as low as he can go. From here, he can only go up. And "UP" he will go. There is no school for Presidency. You learn on the job. And if the first year is not bumpy, you are not learning. Give him a chance," Ngunyi said.
