Kawangware: Church Service Ends Abruptly as Members Refuse to Buy Bishop Prado TX
A church service in Kawangware, Nairobi has ended abruptly after the members of the chapel disagreed with the bishop over the purchase of a Prado TX. The church service ended abruptly over tensions between the bishop and congregants. The Sunday, December 10, service degenerated into chaos after the leaders of the church staged a walkout mid-service to protest some of the decisions made by the bishop. In a report by Inooro TV, the leaders claimed that the bishop was unimpressed with the members who failed to raise enough money to buy him a Prado TX. "He had said that he needed a car because he was often left embarrassed during meetings when other bishops had luxurious cars," James Gichuhi, the church's finance manager, said. Gichuhi said the bishop was not happy as the members raised enough money to buy a bus but not the Prado that he wanted. "As his translator, I have been very uncomfortable translating some of his unsavoury sermons aimed at the church elders and leaders," Gideon Njuguna said. Some of the leaders also alleged misappropriation of funds, calling for an audit of the church's finances to ensure they were in order. "The church elders who are signatories of our bank have been facing challenges as there has been a plot to oust them and install his preferred signatories," Mwangi, the deacon of the church said.
