Police in Rukungiri District in Uganda are looking for a man who allegedly hit a 55-year-old hotel manager with his car and killed him instantly.
Mr. William Sebikaru is reported to have gone into the trees on Monday morning after hitting Mr. Justus Muhwezi, the manager of Kings Hotel Rukungiri.
According to Kigezi police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, the suspect’s wife, Ms Patience Nabimanya, who works as an accountant in a hotel managed by the deceased, is alleged to have had an affair with him.
Maate told reporters that about two months ago, allegations emerged that the deceased had a romantic relationship with Ms. Patience Nabimanya and her husband William Sebikaru started threatening the manager and the lady Ms. Nabimanya Sadres aka Sandrah, who is the hotel’s waitress who allegedly facilitated the relationship.
It is reported that on December 17, 2023, around four in the morning, when Sandra was going to church for worship, she met Sebikaru who gave her a lift but instead took her to the entrance of the Riverside Hotel.
When they reached the gate before getting out of the car, Sebikaru boldly told her that “I will kill you” while accusing her of being the bridge to break up her marriage.
He then took a machete from the boot of his car to cut her, but luckily Sandra was able to run away.
According to the Kigezi police spokesperson, on Monday morning when the deceased was in a bodaboda on his way to work, Sebikaru followed them after leaving the petrol station while driving his Toyota Harrier car and hit them from behind on purpose.
Muhwezi fell off the bodaboda before Sebikaru followed him and hit him again with the car to the point of seriously injuring him and he was rushed to Nyakibale hospital in a critical condition where he died after being admitted.
After committing the crime, the suspect abandoned his car in the Buyanja area and ran away, never to be found again. A case of murder was registered at the Rukungiri police station, the scene was inspected, investigated and recorded by the traffic and homicide detective team.
