10 Feared Dead after Matatu Collides Head-On With Personal Car on Nyeri-Nyahururu Highway
At least ten people are believed to have died after being involved in a deadly crash at a spot near the Solio Ranch, along the Nyeri-Nyahururu highway, on the evening of Thursday, December 28. A Nyeri-bound matatu coming from Nyahururu crashed into a personal vehicle leading to a bloodbath at Solio. Although police responding at the scene were yet to confirm the actual number of fatalities as of the time of publishing this. What caused the Nyeri-Nyahuru road crash? According to news sources, a Nyeri-bound 14-seater matatu coming from Nyahururu crashed with an oncoming personal vehicle, the impact catching a motorcycle rider who died on the spot. A family of six is also reported to be among the fatalities there. Those injured were ferried to the Mary Immaculate Hospital Mweiga, with others referred to the Nyeri County Referral Level 5 Hospital. The witnesses confiding in Citizen TV claimed potholes on the road had contributed to numerous accidents reported in the recent past. A snarl-up followed the accident as the law enforcers cleared the scene. The road carnage came days after three people were killed and several others injured in another one in Mombasa. The victims were on board a Mash Cool bus en route to Malindi from Nairobi on Sunday, December 24, when it encountered a heavy truck near the Taru Town Center along the Mombasa -Nairobi Highway.
